Purpose of the role
To organise social activities that enhance the club’s community spirit.

General Responsibilities
All Committee members are expected to:
- Act in the best interests of Cardiff Croquet Club
- Work collaboratively as part of the Committee
- Attend Committee meetings where possible
- Support club activities and events
- Respect confidentiality where appropriate
- Uphold the club constitution and Croquet England affiliation
Chair
Purpose of the role
To lead the Committee and ensure the club is well governed, inclusive, and run in accordance with its rules.
Key responsibilities
- Chair Committee meetings and the AGM
- Provide leadership and direction to the Committee
- Ensure decisions are made fairly and recorded
- Support and coordinate Committee members in their roles
- Act as a point of contact for significant issues or disputes
- Represent the club externally where appropriate
- Promote the club and seek Development Grants where appropriate and available
Secretary
Purpose of the role
To manage the club’s administration and ensure good communication and record-keeping.
Key responsibilities
- Liaise with Governing and advisory bodies i.e. Croquet Association and Local Authority.
- Maintain club records (membership list, constitution, policies)
- Prepare and circulate agendas for Committee meetings and the AGM
- Produce AGM notices, papers, nominations and minutes and circulate
- Develop manage and update a website for the Club which holds Club Documents, Policies, Events, Agendas & Minutes of Meetings
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence
- Act as Data Protection Officer and maintain a Data Protection Policy
Treasurer
Purpose of the role
To manage the club’s finances responsibly and transparently.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records
- Manage the Club bank account
- Collect subscriptions and other income
- Pay agreed expenses
- Prepare annual accounts (audited) for the AGM
- Advise the Committee on financial matters
Club Captain
Purpose of the role
To oversee the playing and sporting activities of the club.
Key responsibilities
- Organise club play, competitions, and matches
- Support coaching and player development
- Encourage inclusive participation at all levels
- Act as a link with Croquet England on playing matters
- Hold and Update Members Handicap Records
House & Grounds Officer
Purpose of the role
To oversee the condition and maintenance of the lawns and facilities.
Key responsibilities
- Monitor the condition of lawns and surrounding areas, making sure they are free of hazards and maintained to a safe standard
- Coordinate routine maintenance and working parties
- Identify equipment and maintenance needs
- Advise the Committee on grounds-related priorities, i.e. H&S issues
- Liaise with external contractors if required
- Recruit others to help with the duties when considered beneficial
Marketing & Public Relations Officer
Purpose of the role
To support membership recruitment, retention, and the club’s public profile.
Key responsibilities
- Promote the club locally and online
- Facilitate recruitment initiatives and Taster Days/Open Days
- Liaise with Club Secretary re new members recruited
- Support new players in integrating into club play
- Support welcoming and inclusive club culture
Social Secretary
Purpose of the role
To organise social activities that enhance the club’s community spirit.
Key responsibilities
- Organise social events and gatherings
- Coordinate refreshments at club events where appropriate
- Encourage participation from a wide range of members
- Recruit and arrange Volunteers on Home Match Days
- Work with other officers to support social aspects of club life
